An Ongoing Investment in Our Schools
On Tuesday, May 20, residents of the Saratoga Springs City School District will vote on the Legacy 2025 Capital Project, a $142.8 million referendum aimed at districtwide improvements and renovations. This project aligns with the Pathways Vision and continues the district’s commitment to enhancing infrastructure, improving safety and security, and modernizing learning environments across all eight school buildings.
To help shape the scope of this project, the Legacy Referendum Advisory Committee, composed of over forty stakeholders from the community and school district, met from March to October 2024. This committee played a crucial role in identifying priorities for the scope of work and making recommendations to the Board of Education.
Financial Impact – No Additional Taxes Will Be Levied for This Project
Due to strategic financial planning and the maximized use of state aid, the district estimates that no additional new taxes will be required to fund the project. Instead, the project will be fully supported by state building aid, Capital Reserve Funds, and existing debt scheduled to expire.
Proposed Scope of Work
The proposal includes modernizing additional classrooms, renovating selected bathrooms and kitchens, improving accessibility and energy efficiencies, and replacing select roofs, doors, and windows. The project will also include renovations to the high school auditorium with new seats, carpeting, and finishes as well as improvements to existing athletic facilities, including resurfacing the track and installing turf on the infield of the softball field at Saratoga Springs High School.
