Our district is committed to ensuring all students feel safe and welcome in our schools and we continue to work towards creating a school environment that fosters academic and personal growth with mutual respect for all.
Our district does not condone or tolerate any racist language or behavior in our schools. An important step in addressing any form of bullying, harassment and/or discrimination, is to immediately report these occurrences to your building administrator so these matters can be investigated and resolved.
We have high expectations for our school district, and we are committed to engaging in conversations about equity, inclusion, and diversity because we know all our students deserve to feel valued and safe in school. Below are a few of the ways that our school district is working towards creating a school community that supports all our students.
- Our school district recognizes that our educators and staff play an important role in assuring that all learners feel valued in our schools. Ongoing professional development on culturally responsive classroom practices prioritizes this work.
- Our Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Committee supports the district by engaging in conversations and work that promotes diversity and facilitates growth so that all students feel respected and welcome in our schools.
- All eight of our school buildings are working towards becoming Anti-Defamation League’s “No Place for Hate” Schools. This work encourages schools to foster a culture of respect and includes multiple student-led activities to address bias and take a stand against hate.
- Saratoga Springs High School is planning our annual student-led event called “Voices for Unity” to allow students to share their experiences and create a more inclusive community. An evening community event is also being planned and more information will be shared soon.
We encourage our families to talk with their child(ren) and have open conversations about the topic of racism and how harmful language and negative social media interactions impact everyone. The Anti-Defamation League has many resources available to start conversations. By working together as a school community, we can ensure that every student in our district feels safe and welcome in our schools!
