Elizabeth Carroll, an assistant principal at Maple Avenue Middle School, has been selected as the next principal at Lake Avenue Elementary School. Ms. Carroll will replace Dr. Barbara Messier who is retiring from her position on July 31 after 22 years.
“Ms. Carroll has done an amazing job in her role of assistant principal at Maple Avenue,” said Dr. Michael Patton, Superintendent of Schools. “Her experience and student-centered focus will benefit the entire Lake Avenue school community. The district will greatly miss Dr. Messier and wishes her all the best in her retirement.”
Ms. Carroll is in her third year in the role of assistant principal at Maple Avenue Middle School. Prior to joining the district, she spent 13 years working at North Colonie Central School District as a math teacher and instructional technology teacher.
“I have loved every moment I have spent at Maple Avenue Middle School,” said Ms. Carroll. “The talented faculty and staff serve an amazing group of kids and families. While I am sad to leave such a wonderful place, I am honored and thrilled to join the Lake Avenue Elementary School community and cannot wait to continue my work in Saratoga Springs!”
Ms. Carroll earned a bachelor’s degree in mathematics from University at Albany in 2004, a master’s degree in secondary education from University at Albany in 2006, and a certificate of advanced study from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts in 2019. She holds a professional certificate from New York State as a teacher for mathematics 7-12, an initial certificate from New York State as a school building leader, and a professional certificate from New York State as a school district leader.
