Important information regarding this week’s high temperatures

This week, the weather forecast predicts a high heat index from Tuesday through Thursday night. As always, we are closely monitoring the weather to stay proactive and ensure the safety of our students and staff.

In observance of Juneteenth, there will be no school on Wednesday, June 19. At the high school level, Regents Exams are taking place this week, and we have arranged to ensure exam rooms remain cool and conducive to testing. Additionally, we will monitor temperatures to determine the feasibility of outdoor activities for all grade levels, as many year-end events are planned for the week.

We have taken several measures to maintain a comfortable temperature in our schools during June. These measures include using the HVAC system to pull in cool air overnight and utilizing fans throughout our buildings.

If temperatures inside school buildings necessitate an early release, we will follow the same protocols used for an Emergency Release Day. If an early dismissal is required, we will communicate this decision well in advance to prioritize the well-being of students while also considering the impact on families.

Please ensure your child is dressed in lightweight, school-appropriate clothing suitable for the warm weather. Also, please send your child to school with a water bottle to stay hydrated.
