In celebration of Lake Avenue Elementary School’s centennial, the Lake Avenue PTA commissioned artist Ramiro Davaro-Comas (he/him), co-founder of Super-Stories, to create a mural in the library that reflects current students’ perspectives on what makes Lake Avenue “My Kind of School.”
In March, Ramiro and art teacher Mrs. Terry ran workshops with students to learn more about the project. After gathering more than 400 student drawings, Ramiro created a mural incorporating the students’ “hand” in the design. In June, students, families, and staff members were invited to visit the library to help paint the mural.
This program was made possible by Saratoga Arts through the Community Arts Regrant Program, funded by the New York State Council on the Arts with the support of the Office of the Governor and the New York State Legislature.
