Dr. Michele Whitley, principal of Geyser Road Elementary School, has been appointed as the director of K-12 humanities and elementary instruction. The appointment is effective July 1. Dr. Whitley will replace Dr. Jennifer Steimle who is leaving to become the superintendent of schools for Greenwich School District.
Ms. Whitley has served as principal of Geyser Road Elementary School for the past four years. Prior to that, she spent 10 years working at Mohonasen Central School District as principal, K-12 academic administrator for ELA, and a K-12 administrator for APPR. Additionally, she has served as an elementary assistant principal in the Ballston Spa School District and as teacher in the Mohonasen Central School District.

Ms. Whitley earned a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from SUNY Oswego in 1998, a master’s degree in reading from The College of Saint Rose in 2000, a master’s degree in educational administration from University at Albany in 2006, and a doctoral degree in educational leadership from Russell Sage College in 2021. She holds a permanent certificate from New York State as a school district administrator, a reading teacher, and pre-k, kindergarten, and grades 1-6.
